Everything about using Localee, for customers and businesses

Can't find it? Ask a question for an instant answer, or send us a message and a person will reply, usually within one business day.

For everyone

What is Localee?

Localee shows live deals from local businesses near you, right now. Each deal is short (30 minutes to 3 hours) and has a limited number available, so businesses can fill slow hours and you get a real discount for showing up.

Open the Map to see what's live around you, claim a deal, and show your code at the counter.

Notifications

Localee can send you:

Turn either one on or off in Profile (business owners: Setup) → Notifications. To stop all notifications, turn them off for Localee in your phone's Settings.

Alcohol deals

Deals that include alcohol are only for people 21 and over. Before claiming one, you confirm you're 21 or older, and the business may check your ID when you redeem.

Alcohol deals are one per customer, are redeemed in person at the licensed business that posted them, and are always a set price or a discount on a single drink. Free drinks, buy-one-get-one and multiple-drink offers aren't allowed on Localee.

Signing in, passwords and staying signed in

Forgot your password? On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email. We email you a 6-digit code that's good for 30 minutes; enter it with your new password. Resetting your password signs you out on your other devices.

The app keeps you signed in for 30 days from the last time you opened it, so you won't need to sign in each time.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile (business owners: Setup) → Delete account and enter your password. This can't be undone.

Deleting removes your name, email, password, unused deals and savings history. Businesses keep an anonymous record that a past redemption happened, so their totals stay accurate.

A business owner deleting their account also closes the business on Localee: the plan is cancelled, live deals come down, and staff logins stop working.

If you have Unlimited through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there too so you aren't billed again.

Your privacy and location

Localee uses your location while the app is open to show nearby deals. If deal alerts are on, it also keeps the approximate area where you last opened the map (rounded to about half a mile), replaced each time, so it can tell you about new deals nearby. It doesn't keep a history of where you've been.

Businesses where you redeem see your name, number of visits and what was spent at their counter. They never see your email address or location. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Contacting Localee support

In the app, go to Profile (business owners: Setup) → Help & support. You can ask a question and get an instant answer, or send our team a message. On the web, use the form on the Support page. We usually reply within one business day, by email and in the app.

For customers

Finding deals near you

The Map shows live deals within the distance you choose at the top of the screen, from 0.5 to 10 miles. Deals are listed nearest first.

Localee uses your location while the app is open to find nearby deals. If you don't allow location, the map shows a default area instead. You can turn location on any time in your phone's Settings → Localee.

Tap a pin or a deal card to see the details: what's discounted, how many are left and when it ends.

Claiming and using a deal
  1. Open a deal and tap Claim this deal.
  2. You get a code, saved in My Deals. It's good for 30 minutes.
  3. At the counter, show the code (or its QR code). Staff scan it or type it in, and the discount is applied.

Claim when you're on your way: the 30 minutes start the moment you claim. If a deal sells out after you claim, your code still works. If your code runs out before you get there, it disappears from My Deals and that deal can't be used.

How many deals can I use? (free plan)

The free plan includes 3 deals a month, plus 1 freeze token. A deal counts when you claim it. Your count resets at the start of each month.

When you've used all 3, you can wait for next month or get Localee Unlimited for unlimited deals.

Freeze tokens

A freeze token holds a claimed deal for later. Normally a code is good for 30 minutes; freezing it keeps it good until the deal itself ends.

In My Deals, tap Freeze for later on a claimed deal. You get 1 freeze token a month, and it resets with your monthly count.

Localee Unlimited

Localee Unlimited is $9.99 a month for unlimited deals, with no monthly limit on claims.

In the app, Unlimited is billed through your Apple ID (iPhone) or Google Play account (Android). It renews monthly until you cancel.

To cancel or manage it: iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Localee. Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Got a new phone or reinstalled? Go to Profile → Restore purchases.

What are "Regulars only" deals?

Some businesses post deals just for their regulars: people who have already redeemed a deal there. You'll see these deals on the map once you've redeemed at that business at least once, as long as you're signed in.

A business didn't honor a deal, or a deal looks wrong

Open the deal and tap Report this deal at the bottom, then choose what went wrong. Our team reviews every report, usually within one business day, and can take a deal down.

If you were charged the full price for a deal you claimed, contact us through Help & support with the business name and time, and we'll follow up with the business.

For businesses

Signing up your business and plans

Download Localee, choose Business account, and enter your business name, category and street address (that places your pin on the map). Then pick a plan:

Founding businesses get their first month free. You add a card on Stripe's secure checkout page and aren't charged until the free month ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing. Localee never takes a cut of your sales.

Posting a deal

Post from the Deals tab in the app or from the business portal on the web. Choose Create my own, or Choose from prefilled templates for ideas built for your business.

Each deal has:

Each post uses one of your monthly posts. Tip: post during your slowest hour, with a limited number available, and keep the discount modest so it protects your margin.

Deal ideas, your menu and your sales report

Choose from prefilled templates shows deal ideas for your type of business, ranked by how well they've worked for businesses like yours.

For ideas built around what you actually sell, upload:

Localee reads them and suggests deals: slow sellers to move and best sellers to bring new people in. Every idea can be edited before you post it.

Redeeming customer codes

When a customer shows their code, open the Scan tab in the app. Scan the QR code or type the code, then enter the amount they paid (after the discount) and tap Redeem.

Entering the real amount is what makes your Insights accurate: revenue from Localee, savings and return on your plan. A code can only be redeemed once, at the business that posted the deal, while it's still valid.

Understanding your Insights

Insights shows how Localee is working for you:

View customers (inside Insights) lists everyone who has redeemed with you, with visits and spend. Contact details stay private; reach your regulars with a Regulars only deal.

Adding staff

Owners add staff in the Team tab. Each staff member gets their own login and only the permissions you turn on:

You get a notification when staff send a deal request. Removing someone from Team turns off their login.

Billing, invoices and changing plans

Change plans any time in the app (Setup) or in the business portal (Plan & account). Switching mid-month is prorated: the difference is charged or credited on your next bill.

In the business portal under Plan & account → Billing you can see your card on file, when you'll next be billed, and past invoices with PDF receipts. Manage billing opens Stripe's secure page to update your card or cancel.

If a payment fails, your plan shows as Payment due. Update your card and Stripe retries automatically.

Changing your business name, category or address

Business details are edited in the business portal on the web: Plan & account → Business info. Changing your address moves your pin on the map. Only the owner can make these changes.
